Wilderness Self-Issue Permits
Required for all visitors that enter all Deschutes and Willamette National Forest wilderness areas. A permit is necessary for each group entering the wilderness. Self-issue permits are free and available at all wilderness trailheads except the trailheads where Central Cascades Wilderness Permits are required
Central Cascades Wilderness Permits
Beginning in May 2021, backpackers will need to purchase a permit to overnight in the Mt Jefferson, Mt Washington and Three Sisters Wilderness.
Day hikers will need to purchase a permit to enter these wilderness areas at 19 out of 79 trailheads. These are the most popular trailheads.
