Patjens Lakes Trail Sign Installation - June 22, 2016 - 8:00 am - Bend, OR 97701
Patjens Lakes Trailhead is at the top of the Santiam Pass near the shore of beautiful Big Lake. The trail follows the shore of Big Lake with views of Hoodoo and mesa-like Hayrick Butte before looping into the Mt Washington Wilderness to the Patjens Lakes. We will follow until it leads away from Big Lake so the total hike distance will be under 3 miles with little elevation gain
Our mission is to install trail signs at 2 locations along the trail. You will help carry hand tools and signs. We will cut signposts from downed trees. On the job training will be provided. You will need to bring work gloves, eye protection (eyeglasses or sun glasses will suffice) and a small trash bag. You will need long sleeves and long pants for protection while working but not while you are hiking. We expect to return to Bend before 4 PM.
Please wear proper hiking footwear and bring a snack and a lunch, 2 liters of water, sun and rain protection, personal first aid kit, and extra layers. Make sure that you have the 10 essentials recommended for hiking. Please give drivers $2 gas money. No dogs please.
We can also arrange to meet you in Sisters at Ray’s Food Place.
