Linton Meadows Stewardship Backpack - July 24, 2015 - 8:30 am - Sisters
This will be a 3 night out backpack into the Three Sisters Wilderness to complete a wilderness stewardship project. We will be joined by a wilderness ranger who will give us instructions. Our mission will be to rehab a wilderness lake camping area on the west side of Three Sisters near the PCT and Obsidian area. This will be a fun outing with time for hiking, relaxing and socializing. We will also have the opportunity to learn and ask questions. However, this will be our most strenuous backpack of the summer so please be prepared. Restoration Plan: Armoring and naturalization of illegal campsites- Rehab work- trash- sign installation. This trip will require about 7.5 miles of hiking each way. Elevation gain round trip is approximately 1200 feet. We should plan on approximately 4 hours of hiking time from the trail head. We will camp in the Linton Mdw area for the weekend and head back to trail head on Sunday at 4pm.
One of our new favorite places and longest hikes. All of the new signs are in and the rehab project is started. We will likely return next season for more rehab work. Thanks to Back Country Horsemen for packing in our supplies.
